During the past Thursday, 23rd of May, the LSTS hosted the second FIRE-RS field demonstration. This demonstration was aimed at validating the UAV segment of the FIRE-RS fire monitoring tool as well as the interaction between the UAV systems, the LSTS's Neptus command & control software and the fire mapping & propagation algorithms from LAAS. The demonstration was attended by a series of possible stakeholders from different institutions: Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente; Bombeiros Sapadores CM V.N. Gaia; Bombeiros Voluntários Leixões; Curso de Engenharia de Protecção Civil; Comando Distrital de Operações de Socorros do Porto and CCDR-N. This live demo was the culmination of a series of field tests carried out during the entire week at the LIPA airstrip.
